Stupa of King Ponhea Yat
Wat Phnom
15th century
Ponhea Yat (1405-1467) was a Khmer king who, fleeing from the Thai sack of Angkor Thom, made Phnom Penh his capital in 1431. Below
his stupa is a working clock, whose face is ingeniously formed
out of shrubbery.
