Northeast Corner of the Enclosure Pond

Muang Tam

Four large right-angled ponds, one in each corner, fill most of the space between the inner and outer enclosures. A vibrant and attractive feature, they may represent the four oceans that were thought to circle Mount Meru.

The viewpoint in this photo is from the northeast corner looking south; the inner eastern gopura at photo right, and the outer eastern gopura at photo left.
