Support for a Mirror - Kneeling Female figure

Bayon, Angkor Thom
Bronze, 39 cm (15")
1st half of the 12th century
National Museum of Cambodia

This beautiful figurine, a supporting stand for a mirror, reminds us that not all Khmer bronzes were devoted to gods and goddesses; in Angkor, as everywhere else, the aristocrats would sponsor elite products for their personal use.
