Harihara

Provenance unknown
Sandstone, 35 cm (14")
last quarter of the 10th century
Musee Guimet, Paris

Harihara is a composite god, half Shiva (photo left) and half Vishnu (photo right). Depictions from the Angkor period are rare, but this head from the Musee Guimet probably belongs to Yasovarman I, ca. 900 AD, like the Shiva on the previous page.
