Valin Fights Sugriva

The western gopura of the second enclosure shows, on its east pediment, the fight for kingship between Valin and his brother Sugriva. The story comes from the Ramayana; the battle ended when Rama (with bow, photo right) killed Valin with an arrow from behind. This may seem unsporting, but avatars follow their own rules.
