Lintel

East Pediment, North Library, Banteay Srei (plan)
Banteay Srei style, 967 A.D.

This lintel is located just below the pediment of Indra's Rain (previous page). The central figure is again Indra, who this time rides a single-headed Airavata. Small horses and riders gallop along the garland, which issues from the mouths of rampant lions. The lions' heads, with their squared-off mouth openings, are rendered in a similar style to those on the pediment.
