Head of Buddha
Sukhothai, 14-15c
National Museum, Bangkok
While exhibiting the typical Sukhothai features of deeply-curved
eyebrows and exaggeratedly-recurved eyes and mouth, this face projects a feeling of sweetness and compassion the work of a master,
I think, within the confines of the highly formalistic Sukhothai style.
