Colossal Seated Buddha
Dvaravati (composite), 6-11c
National Museum, Bangkok
This formidable seated Buddha, with hands in the
mudra of preaching, is a composite of two different
originals. Its head and waist are from Wat Phya Kong,
while its chest, lap, and feet, are from Wat Pra Men Nakorn Patho.
The separate origins of its parts, account for the wide range
of dates quoted above.
