Ordination Hall (Ubosot)

Wat Kudidao, Ayutthaya

Kudidao monastery, now in ruins, was built during the reign of King Narai (1656-1688), and restored in 1711 by Crown Prince Boromakot, who became King Boromakot in 1732. It is a good example of Late Ayutthaya style.

Pictured in this photo is the ordination hall (ubosot); it has been partially restored in modern times. The rear of the building (west end) is seen here. The lean of the building walls, which is obvious in this photo, was intentionally designed to compensate for an instability of the ground underneath the platform.
