Asura Riding a Naga

Battle of Devas and Asuras
North gallery, west wing
Angkor Wat

The armies of the devas and asuras interpenetrate in this relief, much as they would in a real battle. This figure's headdress and left-facing direction shows him to be an asura; he is otherwise unidentified, one of several devas and asuras who ride nagas in the relief. A dead soldier, transfixed by an arrow, is draped over the naga's body.
