The Battle of Kurukshetra is the climax of the Mahabharata, in which an epic battle between two great families - the Pandavas and the Kauravas - results in the destruction of both clans and the end of the previous age (Dvapara Yuga) of mankind. According to Mannikka (p.50), the lengths of the four ages of mankind are symbolized in the ratios of certain measurements along the axis of the temple.

The sequence of reliefs in the following pages is counterclockwise around the galleries, beginning just at the right of the west entrance.
