South Wing, West Gallery of Third EnclosureGallery of Bas-Reliefs, Angkor Wat The gallery of bas-reliefs is a cloister that opens outwards, to admit light onto the reliefs on the inside wall. The south wing of the west gallery is seen here. It starts to the right of the stairs, which mark the south end of the western gopura. The gallery is viewed here from the cruciform platform; this photo continues the right-hand side of the photograph on the previous page. Temple enclosures are numbered from the central shrine outwards; there are two inside the temple. This, the third enclosure, is the outer enclosure of the temple. The fourth enclosure, way back at the moat, is the outer enclosure of the city, i.e. the city wall (map). |
