Asura, east side |
Deva, west side |
South Causeway, Angkor Thom
Asuras and devas are both divinities. However, the asuras wound up on the losing side of the conflict, so they are usually portrayed in a less favorable manner.
The figures on the South Causeway are in better condition than those on the other cardinal entrances, because more people pass through this, the main entrance. Thievery and damage usually occurs in more isolated areas, where there is less chance of being observed.
