Victory Feast

South outer gallery, east wing
Bayon, Angkor Thom

The victorious Khmers are preparing a feast. (The archers in the forest at photo right belong to the previous scene, a land battle.) The feasting scene begins behind the archers, and proceeds from right to left: two men roasting shish-kabobs; a man carrying something on a tray; two men lowering an animal into the pot; a squatting man, tending the fire; another tray-carrier; and a figure pouring rice into a cooking pot. In the register above, peacocks and monkeys disport themselves in the trees.
