Female guardian

West door, northwest tower
Lolei, Cambodia

Female guardians with fly-whisks are placed beside the doors on the west towers (guardians on the east towers are male). Their feet are rendered in perspective, within a sufficiently deep niche, unlike the apsarasas at Sikhoraphum. The outline of the niche resembles a typical, but later, Cambodian "arrowhead profile" tower like Phimai. It seems surprising that the niche does not resemble Lolei's own towers more closely.
