Mnajdra

Middle Temple (plan)

This is a view of the middle temple through the large, broken frame in the foreground. The same stone is visible in the photograph on the previous page.

These hollowed-out, rectangular slabs of stone are common in Mnajdra and the other temples. They provide intriguing views through their empty interiors, much like a window or picture-frame. Another name for them is "port-hole slabs."
