Council Chamber

This is the council chamber of Nissankamalla, who built his own palace complex in the same general area as that of Parakramabahu (previous page). Its columns are inscribed with the councillors' titles, to indicate everyone's assigned place in the meeting room. The king's councillors were an eclectic mix including princes, queens, generals, and even merchants.
