Barely visible in this photo, the tea leaf pickers still bend their backs to the delicate job, as they have done ever since 1870, when the failed coffee crops were replaced by tea in the British plantation system.

Pussellawa is located in Kandy District, about 13 miles (20 km) northwest of Nuwara Eliya.
