Mihintale Tablets
Relic House, Medamaluwa Monastery, Mihintale
These inscribed stone tablets were erected by King Mahinda IV (956-972 AD) to
regulate the activities and pay of the keepers of the relics. For example, reliquary caskets were to be locked and sealed in the
presence of the officials, and could not be sold or lent out for money.
