Tissamaharama Dagoba

Tissamaharama (Tissa), Sri Lanka

The original stupa dates to the 2d century BC, although this modern incarnation has been criticized for its top-heavy restoration. A microwave tower, to the right, adds an interesting contrast between historical and modern priorities. Tissa is located near the southeast coast of Sri Lanka, about 20km (12mi) south of Katagarama.
