Mannequin of a Gaya Warrior
National Museum of Korea, Seoul
Of particular interest here is the figure's armor, including a ring-pommeled sword. Gaya was a confederacy of southern states during the Three Kingdoms era (1st through 6th centuries AD) that was squeezed between Baekje and Silla and eventually got wiped out by the latter. It's still important, though, for its historical and cultural legacy. Compare and contrast, if you will, the armor of samurai Japan.
