Juhamnu, the Royal Library building, is located beside a large square pond (buyongji) in the private area (biwon) of the palace. Biwon, translated as "secret garden," was the leisure area for private study and recreation of the palace inhabitants and their guests. Some of the many other names for it include Huwon (rear garden), Naewon (inner garden), Geumwon (forbidden garden), etc.
