Nakseonjae

Changdeokgung
Seoul, Korea

Generally the buildings in Changdeokgung are colored in the brilliant reds, blues, and greens that belong to royal palaces. However, brown and white coloring is used in the Naksonjae compound because these were, originally at least, private rather than official buildings. Nakseonjae was originally built by King Heonjong in 1847 for his concubine Kim Gyeongbin, and later it was occupied by various members of the royal family. The last resident of Nakseonjae was Princess Deokhye, who died in 1989. The hall opened to the public in 2006.
