Hanok VillageJeonju, Korea Hanok are traditional-style Korean houses, built with wood frames and clay walls and floors. There are over 800 of them in Jeonju. Hanok are divided into men's and women's quarters, in accordance with Confucian principles, that are separated by a sort of living room and heated with the ondol system underneath the floor. At Jeonju Hanok Village visitors can enjoy traditional Korean life and traditional foods like bibimbap, the best-known dish from the Jeonju region. There are also Hanok villages in Seoul, at Namsangol and Bukchon. |
