Amida Statue

Geuknakjeon Hall, Bulguksa Temple (map)
East Gyeongju, Korea

The gilded bronze statue of Amida is the central worship icon of Geuknakjeon. The hall and its courtyard are dedicated to Amida's Western Land paradise.

This gilt-bronze statue, a National Treasure, is said to have been cast in the late eighth or early ninth century; it is stylistically similar to the statue of Vairocana in Birojeon Hall.
