Head of Anthropoid Sarcophagus

In the 9th century BC around Amman, burials took place in
anthropoid coffins (see next page) that were capped by effigy heads such as the one shown here. The face is generic, with a full beard and
sideburns that give it a mask-like appearance.
Unusually for the 9th century BC, this one appears to be wearing earbuds :)
