The castle's vaulted rooms and corridors are relatively spacious. For the comfort of residents, a series of carefully designed ceiling apertures, ventilation shafts, and cisterns allow free circulation of light, water, and air throughout the structure. Arrow slits also provided light and air from the outside, as well as defendable openings for archers.
