Decorated Jomon Pot

Sannai Maruyama Site Museum
Aomori, Japan

A broad interlinked herringbone pattern, of circles connected by lines, is superimposed upon the comb markings of this pot. I count two visible registers from top to bottom; there is a third register, at the very bottom of the vessel, which has been almost entirely rubbed out. The line-and-circle "upside-down V" is also seen on some pots at Oyu Stone Circles.
