Shrine Maiden

This shrine maiden (miko) is vending prayers and mementos to the worshippers. Shinto is greatly concerned with ritual purity and cleanliness. One effect of that rule, exemplified by the lovely person in this photograph, is that shrine personnel are expected to be free from physical imperfections.
