Juichimen KannonKanzeon-ji, Dazaifu His right hand mudra, lotus vase, and blossom are typical. The slenderness of the figure is emphasized by its elongated mandorla. At just under 3 1/2 feet, this is the smallest statue in the temple. Made of gilded and painted wood, it is a fine example from the 13th century, with sensitive expression and modeling.
