Reception Hall (Sanshokaku)

Eihei-ji Temple, Fukui (plan)

After passing through the Visitors' Center, day-trippers are directed to the Reception Hall shown here. It is a contemporary, multi-purpose hall (used for lectures, zazen, etc.) with a shoin-style interior (upper photo) that displays 230 bird-and-flower paintings on its coffered ceiling (middle photo), and a statue of Hotei in the tokonoma (bottom photo).
