D. T. Suzuki Museum
Kanazawa, Japan
This museum is a pilgrimage destination for Western tourists of a certain age; the writings of D. T. Suzuki (1870-1966) were very influential in introducing Zen to the West in the 1960's. The modernist building, which opened in 2011, offers an architectural space for reflection (pun intended); a small number of didactic exhibits about Suzuki's life and thought; and a reading room where visitors can browse through his books, as translated into various languages.
