Larger Shiva Temple, Gedong Songo III

The temple is entered on the west side, where Nandishvara and Mahakala, the canonical dvarapalas (guardians) of Shiva's temples, flank the doorway (next page). A nearly-erased kala on the lintel, and worn makara heads beneath the niches, are almost all that remains of the kala-makara arch that originally framed the doorway.
