View of the Plaza

This view looks south, across the plaza in front of the pyramid (see also: view from the west). In front of the turtles mentioned earlier, we see, photo right, a small shrine with figural reliefs. In the background, a masonry element in the shape of a tall right triangle (one half of a split gate?) has been erected upon a large square base. A small, headless, ithyphallic statue (see next page) stands on the plaza, photo center, facing the viewer.
