Statue Under Worship

Balinese Shrine, Upper Terrace, Candi Ceto
Surakarta (Solo)
Java, Indonesia

This ancient statue (unidentified, perhaps Bhima) has been brought into worship by Hindu priests from Bali (see previous page). Religious activity, though, goes both ways; Muslim activists are currently (2008) building mosques, paid for by Saudi oil money, on traditionally Hindu and Christian areas of Bali and Sulawesi.
