Shiva As Bhatara Guru

Candi Singosari, East Java

Most of the temple's statues were removed to Leiden during the Colonial Period. This remaining statue, in the lower cella, depicts Shiva in the form of Bhatara Guru, the Perfect Teacher. The statue is also sometimes identified as Agastya; the iconography of the two forms is similar.
