This chronogram, a kind of rebus, is located at the temple's entrance. It reads "sun moon elephant elephant," or Saka date 1188, according to a local guide. Adding 78 years, this corresponds to 1266 AD in the Western calendar. Is this proof that the temple was founded in 1266? Well, no, because the chronogram is modern; It is just an assertion, much like a museum label, although the date seems reasonable enough.
