Candi Panataran (plan)

The main temple of Candi Panataran ascends in three large terraces that bear sculptured reliefs on their walls: Ramayana on the first terrace, Krishnayana on Terrace 2, winged lions and winged nagas on Terrace 3. Four Tantric guardians are positioned in front of the temple (see following pages).

The temple dates from 1347, and is thought to be the personal temple of King Hayam Wuruk, the great king of Majapahit.
