Dated Temple

Candi Panataran (plan)

This temple is dated by inscription to 1369. A superb kala guards the entrance (next page), and the sanctuary contains a statue of Ganesh. The slender, tapering roof appears to be about as tall as the temple's body, whose height in turn is about 5/3 the width of the base. There is a feeling of lightness and elevation to the whole structure.
