Barong Dance

Even after they have been revived, the Barong's helpers are still under Rangda's spell; they stab themselves with their own kris, as simulated in this performance, while the Barong tries to counteract the spell. The fight between Good and Evil is, in the Balinese view, unending. In a traditional enactment, the dancers would actually be in trance at this point.

The Barong's helpers are dressed in honorific cloth, even though they are mortal, since they are allies of the Barong.
