Shiva Trimukha

Kailasa Museum, Dieng Plateau

This statue of Shiva in three-headed form can be compared to the great Sadashiva at Elephanta; the basic form is the same, although the expressions of the three faces seem less differentiated here, and both of the side heads appear to be contemplating a lotus (flower on the viewer's left, bud on the right). At Elephanta, the fierce head contemplates a cobra.
