Meru ShrinesPura Taman Ayun, Mengwi This view is taken near the far end of the temple, walking back along the moat towards the entrance; the inner gate is in the distance. The black meru roofs are made of palm; they are expensive to construct and keep up. The straw-colored thatched roofs are made of the more common alang-alang. The grounds are nicely landscaped; a closeup of one of the plantings is seen on the next page. The tall, pruned palm tree at photo left is one of the species from which palm-leaf books are made. |
