Citadel of Orchha

Lying just southeast of Jhansi, Orchha was founded in 1531 by Raja Rudra Pratap as the capital of the Bundela dynasty. It was occupied until the 18th century when the capital moved to Tikamgarh.
The citadel, which is built on an island, contains three major and several minor palaces.
