Konarak

The temple's "wheels" are attached to the side of the platform, which is covered with a profusion of carvings that represent scenes from the natural world, beautiful maidens, and mithuna. The carvings run in two bands across the terrace. The decoration seen here is typical, although better preserved than most; it is found on the south side of the terrace, in the vicinity of wheel number 8 (counting back from the east entrance,) below the sanctuary.
