This cenotaph inside the building marks another interment - not that of Humayun. Imperial Mughal tombs always included the burials of the emperor and his principal wife, but could contain additional burials as well.

Light admitted through the pierced jali seems to create a mysterious atmosphere on the threshold between this world and the next.
