Kalyana Mandapa

Vitthala Temple, Vijayanagara

Massive pillars, decorated with soldiers riding yalis, carry the large brackets and roof beams. This is very similar to the pillar and bracket construction inside the mahamandapa. The method of construction allowed for impressively large roof spans.
