The Palace wing of the hotel (article), seen here, opened in 1903. One edge of the Tower wing (1973) is visible at the far right of the photograph; the nearby Gateway of India is out of the photo to the right. The hotel was attacked by terrorists, with loss of life, in 2008 (article).
