South face of Tower

Mukteshvara Temple, Bhubaneshwar

A bho motif (next page) dominates the center of the tower's south face. A smaller sculpture rests on a ledge above the bho, and additional sculptures anchor the vertical piers at the base of the tower. The surrounding waist-high wall is decorated with small shrines and topped with a row of lotus leaves.

The junction between jagamohan and deul, which are visually separated yet physically connected by a short passage, is better than the jammed-up contiguity of the earlier jagamohan and deul at Parasurameshvara.
