Tomb of Akbar

Sikandra, Uttar Pradesh

The imposing central arch is flanked by arcaded cloisters on either side. The roof is topped by an elaborate superstructure of pavilions and chhatris. The Cenotaphs of the royal family are placed on the main level, while Akbar's crypt is reached by a ramp leading underground.
