Nubian Archers

Nubian Museum, Egypt

This set of archers must have been transferred to the Nubian Museum from the Cairo Museum sometime between 1999, when I saw it in Cairo, and 2013, when it was photographed here in Aswan. This is the early stage of an acceleration of a process. At the time of writing (2014), plans are going forward to redistribute Egypt's antiquities from the Cairo Museum into a substantial number of new and existing regional museums, including the new Grand Egyptian Museum at Giza. The purpose of all this is, of course, to accelerate the economic development of the targeted regions. Don't put all your eggs in one basket, as they say.
